8 Cheap and Easy Keto Breakfast Ideas

One of our favorite things about the keto diet is that even though we are on a diet, we get to eat delicious food and lose weight.

Although it varies greatly from person to person, a common keto meal consists of 65-70% fat, 10% carbs and 20% protein. Based on those percentages, we have put together these amazing 8 cheap and easy keto breakfast ideas to kick start the day on the right foot.

Oh! That’s not all. Since we also want to show you that the keto diet can be affordable, we made sure all the meals included on the list are below $5, because, you know what they say: a penny saved is a penny earned!

Let’s get started.

Omelette caprese

To cook a delicious omelette caprese you will only need eggs, mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, and basil. The best part is that it only takes 10 minutes!

Start off by whisking the eggs with some salt and pepper. Depending on your meal plan, you can add up to 6 eggs. On the side, slice the tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. When ready to cook, put the tomatoes in a hot pan with olive oil, then add the eggs and finally the cheese. Lower the flame, let it settle for a few minutes and voilà! You have a cheap and easy keto-friendly breakfast.

Strawberry Smoothie

While it is true that fruits tend to have high glycemic indices, that’s not the case with berries. Not only can you enjoy strawberry smoothies, but blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry smoothies as well. Berries are the best sweet fruit which are still keto-friendly.

Instead of regular milk you can use unsweetened almond milk, which is low in carbs and adds negligible calories to your drink.  If you like having more protein in the morning, you can add a serving of whey protein powder.

To make this delicious blueberry smoothie, just blend the ingredients and serve. It’s as easy as that!

Cheese buttery rolls

Cheese buttery rolls are probably the easiest meal on this list. You simply get slices of cheese, add butter to them and roll them up! There you go, easy keto breakfast with no eggs.

While pretty much all cheeses are great fits for a ketogenic diet, for this easy keto breakfast idea we recommend you use slices of cheddar or mozzarella cheese. And, if you feel the rolls are too simple, you can always add a little bit of salt, paprika or even parsley.

Keto toasts

Hold on! We know the word “toast” doesn’t seem to fit into our list, but, have you tried keto bread?

Keto bread has no flour, no sugar, no gluten and almost no carbs. It is made with almond and coconut flour, butter, coconut milk, baking powder, and an egg; although there are many recipes with different ingredients.

Keto bread is the perfect alternative to regular bread and a nice companion to avocado, cheese, eggs, and even peanut butter. It is an excellent choice for those who are just getting started with the keto diet and struggle when they first reduce their carb intake.

On top of that, keto bread is a great money (and time) saver mainly because you can bake an entire bread and use it for several meals combining it with other food.

Classic Bulletproof Coffee

If you are an advanced keto dieter, then you should be familiar with bulletproof coffee. If you don’t know what it is, bulletproof coffee is simply a cup of black coffee with 2 tbsp of unsalted butter and coconut oil. Some people add cream or half-and-half.

When making bulletproof coffee, keep in mind that you will need a blender since the oil will not mix with the coffee. Don’t try to mix this up with a fork.

A nice cup of bulletproof coffee will get you full of energy and ready to start your day.

Keto breakfast burritos

Let’s start with the wrap. Instead of having regular tortillas made out of flour, we’ll be making them with eggs. All you need is eggs, milk and salt. Add everything to a bowl and whisk for a few minutes. Afterwards, just cook them as if you were making omelettes, and there you go, a keto-friendly tortilla.

For the filling, you can use either chicken or beef with cauliflower and even cheddar cheese. Then, of course, you need to add the famous pico de gallo that’s made with tomatoes, red onion, jalapeños, cilantro, lime juice, olive oil, salt and pepper.

While this is not necessarily the fastest recipe, it is fairly simple to make and if you make pico de gallo in advance, it will only take you a minute to cook the tortillas. Easy!

Baked Avocado Egg Cups

This last cheap and easy keto breakfast idea takes only five minutes to make and it requires only two ingredients (other than salt and pepper).

First, take the avocados and cut them in half. Then, remove the stones and crack an egg into the pit. Add salt and pepper and bake them for 15 minutes at 400°F. That’s it! An easy breezy breakfast.
